How It Works: Smart
Inventory in Seconds

"Smart Inventory" is a revolutionary technology that transforms the task of cataloging household items into a seamless and efficient process. By simply adding pictures or videos of your room, "Inventory" employs advanced recognition algorithms to identify and list every piece of furniture and item within your home.

Supporting Features

Transfer of Utility Accounts

Implemented functionality allowing users to either transfer existing utility services to their new address or explore smart suggestions for more cost-effective providers and plans based on the destination zip code.

Moving Services Integration

Integrated Thumbtack API to enable intelligent matching of moving professionals based on the user's AI-generated inventory. Users can view service details, compare options, and schedule appointments directly within the platform.

Neighborhood Insights
(Nextdoor-powered)

Leveraged the Nextdoor API to provide users with localized content, including neighborhood events, discussions, and recommendations for nearby businesses and services — all personalized to their new address.

The Aspiration

Moving is one of the most stressful life events, often involving disconnected services, endless manual inputs, and unclear planning. The client’s goal was to streamline this chaos into a single smart platform—one that could use AI to simplify the moving experience for everyday users.

The vision was to create a mobile-first platform capable of:

• Automatically cataloging
household items via photo based
inventory recognitin
• Recommending appropriate moving services
• Managing utility transfers with minimal user input
• Delivering hyper-local insights about new neighborhoods

The Result

To support long-term scalability and ensure accessibility for a wide range of user types, the decision was made to develop both mobile and web applications. This dual-platform approach enabled flexible entry points for users—from on-the-go movers to service providers managing requests on desktop.

Key results include:

• 63% reduction in time required to complete move inventory
• 52% faster setup for utility transfers and service changes
• 38% increase in interest of the product
